Affiliate scheme extended
The New Zealand Honey Shop has extended its affiliate scheme. Up till now we have only operated are own direct program, where we've had the flexibility to customise and try to closely fit in with our affiliate partners. This direct program is continuing, and we are happy to work together with potential partners to match the most appropriate products or content assistance to their site.
However we also understand that many affiliates want to match different retailers to different appropriate parts of their site, and therefore prefer to work through network programs to do this.
We are pleased to say that we can now offer this route as well. The New Zealand Honey Shop affiliate program is now also available through the UK based Aflite network. This is free to join, with a quick and easy sign up.
As with our direct program, and our commitment to offering quality products with honest information, there is some vetting of new affiliates, and we will always reserve the right to stop working with a particular site. This is only to try and reduce the misleading information that some people to readily put out there around some of our products. Any reputable and ethical affiliate should understand this as reasonable.
If you are interested in a program involving the best quality products, then head across to our manuka honey affiliate program page (it does offer all of our catalog range) for more details on how to join.

Platinum Award Winner!

OK, allow us a little song and dance :)
While it may still be fairly unknown overall, our range of Beeplenish Beeswax Polishes has been quietly going about impressing people who know a thing or two about natural non-toxic products.
We're pleased to say that Janey Lee Grace and her team have given the Beeplenish Finisher's Formula a Platinum Award in their 2012 awards edition. As someone who is regularly on BBC radio and in multiple magazines for her opinions and advice on the best and most appropriate natural products (plus a best selling author), we do appreciate that she is a trusted reference point in her recommendations. It is also nice to know that she and her team have directly tried products.
In Beeplenish's favour is that first and foremost it uses only natural and non-toxic ingredients, and unlike many other beeswax based polishes is not mixed in with turpentine or other options to get the production cost down. (which admittedly does affect its cost, but is definitely made from a quality first perspective).
A fancy trophy may not have been given out, but the Platinum Award badge is quite sufficient and appropriate. And although the awards are given to individual products, in this case the Finisher's Formular, we can assure you that all Beeplenish products are made to the same exacting ingredient and effectiveness quality.

See the 500g UMF18+ Manuka Honey here.

Cardiff Metropolitan University Shows More Evidence of Medical Manuka Honey's Effectiveness For Wounds
It does however provide another example of why you need to be very careful in what you read in the media, and how lazy and / or poor journalists can be in not reporting important aspects of a story.
In this case, the researchers at Cardiff Metropolitan University made it quite clear that their work related to proper medical grade manuka honey, and plainly stated that it was important that people do use a correct medical grade manuka honey if they are going going to apply it to wounds.
Unfortunately very few media reports included that point, and only generically mentioned manuka honey. Even a doctor who posted on his blog about the research, and has a good history of finding holes and limitations in other published research made this same error in this case.
It is not only very poor but for this situation potentially dangerous too. There is a significant enough problem of substandard honey, and both misleadingly and falsely labelled product widely being sold in the UK and other countries. The poor reporting will lead to people trying to use low quality and inappropriate honey on their wounds in the false expectation it will help. Some jars that haven't undergone sufficient filtration could even contain things that could be harmful to a wound.
It is a pity because this newly published research from Cardiff is very promising in showing how approved medical grade manuka honey has been effective against another bacteria common in wounds, but also works when biofilms are present - something that is common in hard to heal wounds.
Rather than trying to paraphrase too much here, is better just to point you a decent summary of this new research:
Cardiff Metropolitan University research shows promise of medical manuka honey for wounds
Great examples of approved products (eg with a medical devices license) for wounds are the ManukaCare with 100% medical grade honey or the Medihoney Apinate manuka honey dressings.
